Cypress Essential Oil
Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens) essential oil is recommended for its astringent properties and most commonly used topically to reduce excess fluid and swelling. It smells coniferous and piney yet softer and less harsh than fir and pine needle oils.

Cypress is useful in respiratory blends such as chest rubs or in an ultrasonic diffuser. It can also be used topically for acute pain and swelling. For skin application, begin with just 1 drop to 1 teaspoon of unscented lotion and gently massage in skin as needed.
